hmm, is it possible there is a need for a vets student group at UWM? the group at MATC does not seem to be organized.

Hi, Kenyatta. Our office doesn't have any student workers, but I would suggest that you contact the Military Educational Benefits Office (Mellenkamp Hall) as they do and we recently hired one of their student vets as our Financial Spec. IV. I also know that our Administrative Dept. manager came from the School of Health and Human Services (Enderis Hall) and they employ a large number of student workers. If you go to the UWM website and look up employment or human resources, there is a place for students to apply for on-campus jobs. We are an odd department because we don't employ undergraduate students, but a LOT of the offices on campus do, and there are also a large number of jobs filled by student workers in the services offered at the Union (food service, parking, B.O.S.S., and a number of others). There are a large number of student positions advertised each year when the fall semester is starting and they advertise all over campus, but fewer students are hired for the spring semester because most undergraduates graduate in the spring and their jobs open up then. The campus is an ideal location for students to work because they get to know people and resources on campus and can work between classes, if needed. Also, an important consideration for University employment is that they are probably one of the only employers that make a student's academic obligations a first priority over business demands. Feel free to stop by my office (after the holiday, during January is nice and quiet) and I'd be glad to lend a hand, map, etc. Welcome to UW-Milwaukee!

Goodness, I was on campus yesterday getting my id card and being advised for classes. I will need student employment to help pay for school.

I work full-time in the Biological Sciences office and am a student enrolled in the Community Counseling Master's program. I am well acquainted with most facilities and services on campus and would love to be of assistance to anyone who either wants help navigating their way through college or any vet who would like some friendly assistance or orientation to campus. I work in Lapham Hall, Room S181 M-F from 7:45 to 4:30 p.m. Please look me up and come by to say hi!

I go t Kaplan University for my forensic psychology BS. I have found that it is working out well so far and I am about to graduate. I am frustrated with the new GI bill. I go to school online therefore the old GI bill is best for me because I get more benefits out of it. I wish that I got the BAH and everything else because I cannot work and go to school all of the time. I have to attend classes too but for some reason my school does not qualify. Ugh.

I'm all for Canine's For Independence & in my personal opinion, I think this type of program could do more for our Veterans than all the shrinks & physical therapists in the world. It has been proven that petting a dog or cat etc. lowers blood press…
